As a Minnesota Vikings fan, and collector of football cards in the early 80’s, I knew that Joey Browner and Ross Browner were brothers who both played in the NFL.
What I didn’t realize is that they had two additional brothers who played in the league–and now have nephews in the league as well.
Keith Browner Sr. was a defensive end in the NFL from 1984 to 1988, with stops in Tampa Bay, Oakland, San Francisco and San Diego. He also played in the Arena Football League between 1990 and 1997. His son, Keith Browner Jr. is currently on the Houston Texans roster.
Jim Browner played for the Cincinnati Bengals in 1979-1980.
And former Steelers offensive lineman Max Starks was the son of Ross Browner, although Starks didn’t know that until he was being recruited to play college football.
Altogether, that’s six NFL players directly from one family–if that’s not a record, it’s got to be close.
