The 1991 NFL Draft is known for being the year Brett Favre made his entrance into the NFL (33rd overall, by the Atlanta Falcons). It may also be one of the worst drafts of all time, with a total of two Hall of Famers coming in the draft (Favre and 3rd rounder Aeneas Williams, taken 59th overall by the then Phoenix Cardinals), and producing just 8 players in the first round that made the Pro Bowl (compare that to the 2011 NFL draft, in which 15 players have already made at least one Pro Bowl).
The entire draft only produced 27 Pro Bowl players (and two non-drafted Pro Bowlers), none of whom is even in serious Hall of Fame discussions today. And this is when the draft was 12 rounds, meaning 334 total selections were made. The first round also featured two sets of players from the same school taken back to back (including two tackles back to back from one SEC school), a player taken #6 overall that didn’t even play in college, and two quarterbacks taken ahead of Favre.
So let’s see just how big of draft/NFL history nut you are–without looking it up, how many players from the first round of the draft can you name?
