**Updated** The Minnesota Vikings entered the NFL in 1961, and had the first overall selection in that year’s draft. Since then, they have made 62 additional first round picks, including 10 times that they have had more than one first round selection in a draft (twice picking three players in the first round), and one Supplemental 1st round pick in the 1984 USFL/CFL draft. An additional nine times they have not picked a player at all in the first round, including the disastrous stretch from 1989 to 1992, due to the infamous Herschel Walker trade. They have never earned the first overall pick, although in 1968 they did receive the first overall pick in a trade with the New York Giants for Fran Tarkenton. They have selected five players (as of 2016) that have gone on to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
