Indoor Football League

TD: Dominant Indoor Football Team

We’re not just about the NFL here, and recently somehow we ended up looking at some of the indoor/arena football leagues around the country. One that we noticed (possibly because as of next year, our home state will have two teams in the league) is the Indoor Football League, which was created in 2008 out of the merger between the Intense Football League and United Indoor Football.

One amazing thing about that league jumped out to us–in the seven United Bowls (championship games) played since the league debuted, one team–the Sioux Falls Storm–has won five of them. All in a row, continuing through 2015. They also appeared in a sixth (losing to the Billings Outlaws, who won the first two), meaning they have appeared in 86% of the league’s championship games.

On top of that, the Storm also won all four of the United Bowls held from 2005 to 2008, held by the United Indoor Football league–meaning that the Storm have had one season (2009) since 2005 in which they didn’t appear in their league championship game–and in that season, they forfeited their first five victories for committing an insurance violation.

All in all, not a bad little dynasty.
